Angelina Jolie: The only other celebrity in the league of Michael Jackson

After watching Michael Jackson’s funeral today, I thought about what other celebrity would get this much coverage from their death. What other celebrity would immediately be given the status of a saint after their death? The only entertainer that means so much to people all over the world is Angelina Jolie.
Truthfully, I may kill myself the day Angelina Jolie goes, especially if it is in a tragic way. I’m sure others would do the same because it would be difficult to live in a world without a celebrity that has not only improved the lives of many children, but one that also helped curve a lot of injustice in this world.
Putting Angelina Jolie’s humanitarian efforts aside, she’s also an incredible actress who makes Meryl Streep look like an amateur. When watching movies such as Changeling and Girl Interrupted, one wouldn’t know that Angelina Jolie is actually playing her characters unless told.
Besides Angelina Jolie, it is important to continue to cherish all the great talent that we have. You never know when they will be gone and when they are, it may be too late to appreciate them.

I half-way agreed with everything you said up to the point where you actually wrote the words makes Meryl Streep look like an amateur.... I have to ask: Are you on crack? Meryl Streep is probably the GREATEST film actress in history. Jolie isn''t terrible but she''s barely fit to touch the hem of Meryl''s cloth. And FYI: I didn''t agree with you b/c I think Jolie is on the level of Michael Jackson in terms of legendaryness. Rest assured that if she did happen to drop dead tomorrow, sure there would be tons of coverage and she might be canonized in the media as a saint, but only because she is in the prime of her superstardom. She is nothing more than a modern-day Liz Taylor. Give her 50 years to turn into an old, sick self-parody of herself and her death will then be met with collective yawns and the odd Really—I thought she died years ago.

I agree. No, she doesn''t make Streep look like an amateur, but her stardom is intense and she means a lot to millions. I would rather compare her to Lady Diana.
The only difference being is that Lady Di was unlucky in love, so millions identified with her (a la Jennifer Anniston) and therefore she was universally adored by women.
Angelina Jolie gains a lot of envy and atred for her relationship with Pitt, thereby making her miss the same kind of sainthood as MJ and Lady Di enjoyed. However, in terms of that magical superstar quality, she has it in bucketloads and I would easily say one of the most powerful women in the world.
